Larger shops

Not quite distributors, but not tiny either. These are medium-sized companies that have a lot of all-around good stuff

saelig
A small company with USB, USB-on-the-go, Ethernet, and RFID ICs, but also wireless modules, and test-gear like bargain LCD scopes, dataloggers and spectrum analyzers. I've bought stuff from them and they always seem to stock interesting things.

Direct Distributors

Thanks to the ease of creating webshops, many manufacturers will sell parts to you directly at low cost! This can be cheaper and easier than Digikey, or Mouser especially in larger quantities. I do it myself all the time

Semiconductors

OnSemi
"On-semi is the nuts-and-bolts part of the old Motorola. For $11 they will send you around a dozen different part numbers. For the lower cost parts you can get 25 pieces. As the price goes up the quantity reduces." - <http://www.luc…

Sometimes you have to pay full price. Oh well. :)
These are the big distributors that supply and keep thousands of parts on stock!

Distributor Search Engines

FindChips.com
If you know your part number, go here and search more than a dozen popular distributors at once! It's on my toolbar right next to Digikey and Google

It's hard to go wrong with free. Parts manufacturers are often more than happy to ship you, for no cost, a few samples of their merchandise. They often ship within the week, sometimes the next day, and with free 2-3day FedEx/UPS.

These are only the dozen companies I've actually ordered from, if you know others, feel free to edit the wiki page with this content, (or email me)!
